在这几节经文中，诗人合并了两种写作体裁：哀诗和智慧文学，他这样做，是为了要强调他确信神会回应祷告和扶持衪的子民。
在诗篇119中，诗人已经多次在哀痛中向神呼求了。和圣经中其他哀痛呼求的人一样，作者面对敌人和逼迫，他在承受痛苦的重担时唉声叹气；在这里，诗人表明他受到来自敌人的极端威胁，而这些敌人也是神的敌人。
此外，诗人也把恶人和义人作一个对比。圣经中的智慧经常指出，不忠心的人会动摇和离弃神的命令，他们的妄想必定以大败告终；因着他们的愚昧，神不再理会他们了。在另一方面，忠心的人以神和衪的话语为藏身之所，他们以神的话语作为他们的盾牌和宝剑，他们在神面前降服、寄望在衪的指引上、又视衪的指引为最宝贵的。
在这一切的讨论中，我们听到诗人凭信心提出一个大胆而又奇妙的请求：“求你照你的话扶持我，使我存活。”
当你有需要时，你会不会呼求神帮助你呢？全然信靠神，又凭衪的应许生活，确信衪必定会拯救你吧。
主啊，求祢帮助我们按祢的话语生活，又照祢的应许扶持我们，我们祷告。阿们。
诗篇 119:113-120
113心怀二意的人为我所恨，但你的律法为我所爱。
114你是我藏身之处，又是我的盾牌，我甚仰望你的话语。
115作恶的人哪，你们离开我吧，我好遵守我神的命令。
116求你照你的话扶持我，使我存活，也不叫我因失望而害羞。
117求你扶持我，我便得救，时常看重你的律例。
118凡偏离你律例的人，你都轻弃他们，因为他们的诡诈必归虚空。
119凡地上的恶人，你除掉他，好像除掉渣滓，因此我爱你的法度。
120我因惧怕你，肉就发抖，我也怕你的判语。
"Sustain me, my God, according to your promise, and I will live." - Psalm 119:116
In these verses the psalmist combines two literary forms: lament and wisdom. He does this to highlight his sure confidence that God answers prayers and sustains his people.
The psalmist has cried out in lament many times already in Psalm 119. Like other lamenters in the Bible, the writer groans under the weight of distress in facing enemies and opposition. Here the psalmist reveals that he is under extreme duress from his enemies, who are also God’s enemies.
In addition, the psalmist contrasts the wicked and the righteous. As biblical wisdom often points out, the unfaithful waver and stray from God’s commands, and their delusions come to nothing. Because of their folly, God lets them go. The faithful, on the other hand, take refuge in God and in his Word, treating God’s Word as their shield and sword. They bow before God and put their hope in God’s instruction, holding it in the highest esteem.
And in the midst of this discussion we hear the psalmist making a bold and wonderful request, in faith: “Sustain me, my God, according to your promise, and I will live.”
Do you cry out to God for all your needs as they arise? Trust in God completely and live confidently in his promise to deliver you.
Lord, help us to live according to your Word, and sustain us according to your promise, we pray. Amen.
