我们真的像枝子与葡萄树联合那样与耶稣联合？是的，阿们！那是不是意味着我们也与其他基督徒联合呢？是的，你说得对。
如果我们与基督联合，我们就像神的圣葡萄树上的枝子。但是还有其他的枝子，而这些枝子所代表的也都是像我们一样为神所爱的人 － 尽管我们可能跟他们有不同的意见，或是不明白他们为何这样相信。很可惜，耶稣基督的普世教会中有分裂，这些分裂往往都是不体面和不需要的。
不同的基督徒会有不同的看法？是的。他们会有不同的做法？是的。那么，虽然他们是基督葡萄树上生长的枝子，我们可以与他们分开？不可以。这样做是傲慢和会伤害人。
不过，有时有人会提出一些否定基督真理的错误教导的（就如在约翰一书 2:18-27），但如果他们坚持这样做，他们便会误导他人和与基督的葡萄树断绝关系了。这是一个可怕的悲剧，而我们要明白，有这样的事发生是多么令人痛心。所以让我们尽力与基督联合，也和基督教会里其他的枝子联合。耶稣说，“你们若遵守我的命令，就常在我的爱里， … 你们要彼此相爱，像我爱你们一样。”

主啊，如果我们以为自己永远是对的、又认为其他人应该要符合我们的方式，求你赦免我们。惟愿我们寻求在你这真正的葡萄树上合而为一。阿们。
约翰福音 15:1-12
1“我是真葡萄树，我父是栽培的人。
2凡属我不结果子的枝子，他就剪去；凡结果子的，他就修理干净，使枝子结果子更多。
3现在你们因我讲给你们的道，已经干净了。
4你们要常在我里面，我也常在你们里面。枝子若不常在葡萄树上，自己就不能结果子；你们若不常在我里面，也是这样。
5我是葡萄树，你们是枝子。常在我里面的，我也常在他里面，这人就多结果子；因为离了我，你们就不能做什么。
6人若不常在我里面，就像枝子丢在外面枯干，人拾起来扔在火里烧了。
7你们若常在我里面，我的话也常在你们里面，凡你们所愿意的，祈求，就给你们成就。
8你们多结果子，我父就因此得荣耀，你们也就是我的门徒了。
9“我爱你们，正如父爱我一样，你们要常在我的爱里。
10你们若遵守我的命令，就常在我的爱里，正如我遵守了我父的命令，常在他的爱里。
11这些事我已经对你们说了，是要叫我的喜乐存在你们心里，并叫你们的喜乐可以满足。
12你们要彼此相爱，像我爱你们一样，这就是我的命令。
"I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit. . . ." - John 15:5
Are we really united to Jesus like branches to a vine? Yes, and amen! And does that mean we are also united with other people who are Christians? Yes, it does.
If we are united with Christ, we are like a branch of the holy vine of God. Yet there are other branches too, and the people represented by all those branches are loved by God just as we are—even if we might disagree with them in some ways or don't understand why they believe as they do. Sadly, there are divisions in the worldwide church of Jesus Christ, and those can often be ugly and unnecessary.
Do different Christians see things differently? Yes. Do they act differently? Yes. May we separate from them, when they are living branches in the vine of Christ? No. To do so would be arrogant and hurtful.
Sometimes, however, people come up with false teachings that deny the truth of Christ (as in 1 John 2:18-27). And if they insist on following those teachings, they can mislead others and cut themselves off from the vine of Christ. That is a terrible tragedy, and we need to know how tragic it is when something like that happens. Let's do all we can to remain united with Christ and with the other branches of Christ's church. Jesus says, "If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love. . . . Love each other as I have loved you."
Forgive us, Lord, if we think that we are always right and that others should conform to our way. May we seek unity in you, the true vine. Amen.
