装饰美丽的房屋
犹太人从被放逐的巴比伦返回以后，开始兴旺起来。他们开始重建被巴比伦人毁坏的圣殿。但住在那地的其他宗教徒写信给巴比伦，抱怨犹太人正准备造反。再加之其他原因，重建圣殿的工作就停止了。
看起来，犹太人一开始有重建圣殿的意愿，但当敌对势力起来时，他们便开始犹豫，失去了焦点。他们把精力转移到建造和装饰自己的房屋上。所以哈该以尖刻的话呼吁他们回到重建神的圣殿这一首要任务上来。
在今天的世界，我们不应因建造基督教会所面临的挣扎而气馁。那恶者的势力企图胜过它，但耶稣终会得胜（太 16:18）。要记住耶稣的话：“你们要先求他的国和他的义。这些东西都要加给你们了。” （太 6:33）。
并不是神想让你住在没有漂亮天花板、荒凉的房子里。只是，如果建造神的国需要这些，我们就应该愿意牺牲。我们的财宝在天上。
主啊，有时我们厌倦了我们身处的属灵争战。请帮助我们在试探临到时，不要满足于次要的事。奉耶稣的名，阿们。
哈该书 1
1大流士王第二年六月初一日，耶和华的话藉先知哈该，向犹大省长撒拉铁的儿子所罗巴伯和约萨答的儿子大祭司约书亚说：
2“万军之耶和华如此说：这百姓说，建造耶和华殿的时候尚未来到。”
3那时耶和华的话临到先知哈该说：
4“这殿仍然荒凉，你们自己还住天花板的房屋吗？
5现在万军之耶和华如此说：你们要省察自己的行为。
6你们撒的种多，收的却少，你们吃却不得饱，喝却不得足，穿衣服却不得暖，得工钱的将工钱装在破漏的囊中。
7“万军之耶和华如此说：你们要省察自己的行为。
8你们要上山取木料，建造这殿，我就因此喜乐，且得荣耀。这是耶和华说的。
9你们盼望多得，所得的却少，你们收到家中，我就吹去，这是为什么呢？因为我的殿荒凉，你们各人却顾自己的房屋。这是万军之耶和华说的。
10所以为你们的缘故，天就不降甘露，地也不出土产。
11我命干旱临到地土、山冈、五谷、新酒和油，并地上的出产、人民、牲畜，以及人手一切劳碌得来的。”
12那时，撒拉铁的儿子所罗巴伯和约萨答的儿子大祭司约书亚，并剩下的百姓，都听从耶和华他们神的话和先知哈该奉耶和华他们神差来所说的话。百姓也在耶和华面前存敬畏的心。
13耶和华的使者哈该奉耶和华差遣对百姓说：“耶和华说：我与你们同在。”
14耶和华激动犹大省长撒拉铁的儿子所罗巴伯和约萨答的儿子大祭司约书亚，并剩下之百姓的心，他们就来为万军之耶和华他们神的殿做工。
15这是在大流士王第二年六月二十四日。
Beautifully Paneled Houses
“Is it a time for you yourselves to be living in your paneled houses, while this house remains a ruin?” — Haggai 1:3-4
After the Jews returned from exile in Babylon, they began to prosper. They started rebuilding the temple which had been ruined by the Babylonians. But the people of other religions who lived in the land sent letters to Babylon and complained that the Jews were preparing to revolt. For that and other reasons, the rebuilding of the temple stopped.
It seems that the Jews began with a will to rebuild the temple, but when opposition arose, they faltered and lost focus. They transferred their energy to building and beautifying their own houses. It took the searing words of Haggai to call them back to the priority of rebuilding God’s temple.
In the world today, we must not be discouraged by the struggle it takes to build Christ’s church. The forces of the devil will try to overcome it, but Jesus will prevail (Matthew 16:18). Remember what Jesus said: “Seek first [God’s] kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well” (Matthew 6:33).
It’s not that God necessarily wants you to live in a bleak apartment without beautiful paneling. But if that’s what it takes to build God’s kingdom, we must be willing to sacrifice. Our treasures are in heaven.
Lord, sometimes we grow weary of the spiritual warfare we are engaged in. Help us not to settle for secondary priorities when they tempt us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
